The “Let’s Protect our Wetlands” short film competition is conducted by “Lassana Kollonawa” wetland protection youth network which is under the guidance and supervision of the Emotional Intelligence and Life Skills Training Team (Gte) Ltd and in collaboration with Digital Film School of Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. This is implemented under the funding of UNDP GEF Small Grants Program Sri Lanka and under the directions of Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation. The event is conducted online due to the Covid19 pandemic. You are welcome to watch and review all the films submitted to the competition. And based on your reviews, we will be selecting the most popular category winner.

"Highly motivated and skilled Environmental Scientist with over 20 years’ experience, of which ten years are at international level and had worked with organizations such as UNEP, UNDP, IMO, and the Secretariats for the Convention on Biological Diversity and Ramsar Convention on wetlands. Spent a year at the UNEP-World Conservation and Monitoring Centre as a Chevening Scholar on Biodiversity and a visiting student at St Edmund’s College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Protected Area Management, M.Phil in Zoology, and a 2nd Class Upper Division B.Sc. General Degree in Natural Sciences. Presently working as a Freelance Consultant addressing environmental issues with organizations such as UNDP, WFP, GIZ, and the World Bank."

Being a graduate in Forestry and Environmental Science and holds a Master’s degree in Environment Management, her interesting fields are urban wetlands, water quality, environmental management, and climate change."

Ranoshi is highly interested on areas such as sustainable urban development, urban wetland management and, conservation, and wise use of wetland flora"

He introduced non-linear digital editing and digital sound to the Sri Lankan Cinema industry in 2000 to facilitate digital sound to the Sri Lankan Cinema industry and in 2018 installed the calibrated Sri Lanka’s first of a first professional International standard 7.1 mixing studio Surround System enabling Sri Lankan filmmakers to finalize their works to International without leaving the island. "

"Sanjeewa’s first feature, “Flying Fish” world premiered at the International film festival Rotterdam (2011) and was nominated for the Tiger Award. The film garnered many accolades and was invited to more than 30 International film festivals. In 2012, Sanjeewa was invited to Paris by the Canes film festival to its Cinefondation Residence to develop his second feature, “Burning Birds” ( Davena Vihagun). The film world premiered at the Busan film. Burning Birds received many accolades and was invited to more than 30 festivals. In 2018, Sanjeewa’s new film project, “Amma” was selected to open doors’ co-production market at Locarno film festival where the project won the main awards ( ex-aequo). In 2021 he completed his third film “Asu”."
